Waiting..Waiting..Waiting for Spring
Winter is still with us here in Yorkville. March brought a record 18 inches of rain and there was measurable rain 25 of the 31 days. Fortunately things seem to be slowly improving: Compare the early March blanket of snow with April's rain.

Even the fava beans, part of our cover crop, are struggling with the unusually wet and cold weather. Last year at this time they stood two to three feet high!
|
As our vines are still dormant, we expect no negative effects from the rain. Looking back to the vineyard notes from 2005, we had three inch shoots on some vines by this time, but also had three rounds of frost! As we've learned with 20 years experience as certified organic growers, every year brings a new and different set of challenges in the vineyard.

Direct
Shipping- Now 22 States
In May
2005 the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of wineries that were trying to gain the legal right to ship wine directly to customers around the US. Many restrictive laws have been invalidated and are slowly being replaced with regulations that allow us to ship wine directly to you!
Also, many states currently have legislation in the works that could change our ability to ship you the wine you want, including some states such as Michigan, which we will be able to ship to fairly soon.
If
you are curious, this link will take you to a state by state analysis
of wine laws: http://www.wineinstitute.org/shipwine/ Then click on State Shipping Laws.
If you live in a state that is not on our list, please check to see if you can add your support to opening up shipping by visiting www.freethe grapes.org and check on the front page to see if there is pending legislation in your state.
Here is the good news: We can currently ship to these 22 states.
