Old Vines - Experienced Pruners
Although 'Old Vine' is not a defined standard, and is not usually applied to white grape vineyards, our original planting of Sauvignon Blanc is turning 25 years old in 2007. That's old enough to command the attention of our top pruning team members, who make decisions about the vigor and orientation of each cane before pruning back the previous year's growth. Like a berry cane, grapes will only form on the new growth each year, and each pruning cut will affect the crop for this year and beyond. We're proud that some of our crew members have been here nearly since the first pruning. February Special - Our Eleanor We named our favorite white wine, Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122-1204), after the woman that was not just queen to 2 kings, but also mother to 2 kings. As a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, many customers over the years have have agreed with us as to how well Eleanor pairs with crab, which is in season right now.
It has been nearly 3 years since we last
featured our Eleanor of Aquitaine. As our most awarded wine over the years, it is often sold out. It follows that now is the best time to act, and save $6 per bottle from the regular retail price of $25.
