May 2004 At Yorkville Cellars it's not merely Mother's Day; it's Mother's Month We named our favorite white wine, Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122-1204). Not just queen to two kings, she was also mother to 2 kings. Queen of France by the age of 15 and later Queen of England, the birth of her sons including Richard the Lion-Heart forever changed the face of medieval European history. Probably just like your mother she was renowned for beauty, intelligence, and the thoughtful application of power. We try to make our Eleanor wine just like that, too.
Eleanor of Aquitaine For the month of May we're offering our 2001 Eleanor of Aquitaine at the special price of just $12 per bottle. That's a savings of $5.00 per bottle. So far this year this wine has won more medals than any of our other wines and it includes a Silver medal at prestigious New World Int'l Wine Competition. So we're expecting Gold soon... Saturday June 5th will be the date for our 2nd annual Yorkville Highlands Wine Festival. This fun event features all the wines made from grapes in our growing region, or appellation. It will be held at Meyer Family Cellars, our neighbors 6 miles to the west of us on Highway 128.
