2006 Rose de Franc

2007 Rosé de Franc

Think of this as a Cabernet Franc Lite. Excellent, dry, refreshing summer picnic wine. Your first reaction will be "what a beautiful, bright color!"

A review on "The Second Glass" stated: "Clearly, it’s ideal for sipping on all night (or summer) long, and is organically produced. What’s not to love?" [click for full review]

Recently Andy M. of New Mexico wrote us: "We bought several bottles of your Rosé de Franc...and just want to let you know it is a perfect accompaniement to Southwestern style cooking -- spicy with citrus (lime) flavors. Given the popularity of spicy foods in the U.S., I don't know why vintners don't promote the advantages of a dry rosé... Anyway, thanks for your good work."

Winemaker's notes

Harvested on Oct. 24th, the grapes were crushed, and allowed contact with the skins for about a day. The juice was then bled off and slowly fermented, completing fermentation in four weeks. The wine was aged in older French oak barrels for about five months, and livened by a small addition of Sauvignon Blanc before bottling. We recommend drinking this wine young, although after a year in bottle, the finish is gaining in complexity.

Pairing with food

Classic pairing is with summer fair such as Salad Niçoise or roasted vegetables, couscous and feta cheese.

Matches with cheese

Pair with aged dry jack, swiss, or mild cheddar.
